In the news, we continue to see increases in the spread of Covid making new waves with new variations. Although I am not a medical person, nor have such a background, I know that viruses do mutate. The vaccines and their seemingly never ending boosters are continually pushed for safety; I am certain they have their place and are good to have for some, but I am one of those with the belief that what is good for the goose, isn’t necessarily good for the gander.

I have been around long enough to question things and leave things open for consideration. For example, the ebbs and flows of the latest wave increases for Covid seem to hit similar areas and perhaps they are around certain times that benefit different persons, political parties, etc. I realize that this is all falling in the area of “conspiracy theory”, but haven’t aspects of various conspiracy theories in the past been sorta right?

The new MonkeyPox thing that is starting to increase in it’s prevalence around the United States hasn’t caused quite the large stir as was made for Covid. Admittedly, I haven’t done a great deal of research on it at this time. I don’t know if there even is a lot of information on it.

Since late April 2022, and even through the date of posting for this blog post, we see multiple mass shootings at different locations – churches, cemeteries, schools, grocery stores, strip malls, parking lots, etc. All this to continue the push of “gun control” and removal of the second amendment.

All these things have something in common – fear.

How else do you so easily control a massive population? Even in more recent history, we see that fear makes people do things that they wouldn’t do in the absence of fear. They will more easily give up their rights and freedoms for a vague and hallow promise of protection and security from government officials that don’t necessarily have our best interests at heart – despite rhetoric to the contrary.

Fear delves quickly and immediately into our psyche. It is what has kept the human race functioning for so many millennia – it’s a survival technique that is part of the Neanderthal portion of our brains. According to some studies, it takes 8 – 9 positive things to counter the impact of a negative or fear based event.

When in a survival situation, fear is good to have, but it is necessary to remain in control of the fear. Have a “healthy fear”, if you will – one that keeps you aware enough to consider and prepare for a worst case scenario, but remain positive enough to not be beholding to that mindset that keeps people living restricted lives.

Being positive in times like these, where grocery store shelves are empty in locations and you have restrictions on quantity of items, supply chains are impacted and you don’t know when another shipment of things you need is coming in, all while prices of food, gas, and anything else you can purchase continues to increase more than what you can bring in – assuming that there is money coming in – and that adds a whole new aspect of concern and stress to life.

If there are answers to these things, I don’t have any pieces of sage advice. The methods I am using are generally just doing the best I can with the resources that are available to me and continuing to alter and adjust those plans as situations change. Of course, I keep aware of news headlines for information, but I don’t live in the news headlines. I have found through personal experience that keeping myself as aware and positive as possible is a great help in making it through each day.
